Families in Transition

Families in Transition (FIT) serves as the District homeless/transitional program. Our program is part of the Student Support Programs department and is funded by a federal grant under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act, as well as Title I federal funds and generous donors from the community.

Mission:
To identify, provide outreach, and connect homeless and transitional students and their families to the appropriate services needed to stabilize a student’s environment so they can grow personally and academically. We accomplish this by providing basic needs assistance, family support, academic accountability, clothing and toiletry assistance, transportation assistance, and many other services as appropriate.

We seek to serve as a compassionate and understanding resource for those less fortunate and strive to help PUSD homeless and transitional students and families find their way to personal and academic success.

Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. We are closed daily from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

2ND ANNUAL PROM DRESS EVENT UPDATE!
The 2nd Annual Prom Dress Giveaway Event on March 31, 2012 was a BIG SUCCESS.
We had a great time providing young people with the opportunity to attend their school prom. We were able to help more than 65 young ladies with prom dresses, Target gift cards, and gift bags.
We want to give a special recognition to Olga Manzanero, Community Assistant at John Muir High School, for her hard work in registering students and providing event support. We were blessed to have her assistance.
We would also like to thank Salvation Army, PUSD, Pasadena Police Department, private donors, and volunteers for making this event possible. Your generosity makes an impact on young people's lives.
We look forward to doing this event next year.
